Kaina, earlier known as Kanak, is living in a community of Eunuchs/Kinnars. One day Kanak’s father gets to know a surprising and shocking fact about Kanak which changes his attitude towards his own blood. He forcibly takes Kanak away from his mother and hands him over to Khansa, Head of the Kinnar community. Kanak gets a new identity as Kaina, meaning god created, given to him by Labdhi with whom he develops a mother like bond in the community and she helps kaina to adjust and get in touch with the reality. Later in the story, one action of Kaina breaks this mother like bond with Labdhi forever and Kaina is again left in a very vulnerable space.
