Luces y sombras de Francis Montesinos directed by MARÍA LUZ ZAMORA ABANADES

What did MARÍA LUZ ZAMORA ABANADES say about this film?
"Light and Shade from Francis Montesinos" is the only documentary that shows the designer's life as a person, delving into his intimate story from his childhood to understand that only such a transgressive, bisexual, and controversial creator can command the freedom necessary to create his baroque and exaggerated vision of fashion design, pushing boundaries that others cannot. The greatest designer Spain has ever launched to the world, capable of turning a bullring into a fashion runway, is a simple man, in love with the simple things of his native Valencia.
To show an entire life, Malu Zamora has turned to fiction, recreating scenes from the past with actors. Four different Francises, from the baby to the present day, and Carmen Mayordomo, who plays the mother rol, carry the main weight of the story.
The cast also includes Rosana Pastor, Jaime Reynolds, Nicolás Coronado, Ciro Maró… But also Nacho Duato and Paola Bosé, among others, in the documentary section.
The project is much more than a simple documentary. Between the fiction and the documentary, there is also the need to include a journalistic investigation, in which Malu Zamora's team discovers the whereabouts of the extortionists who, while the documentary was being filmed, attempted to blackmail Francis.
The result is an experimental film, shot over three years during which events unfolded, shaping the course of the filming in real time. Therefore, we witness a truly unique and unclassifiable work, as truthful, rigorous, and contemporary as it is, which, over time, will undoubtedly become a piece of incalculable historical and artistic value, and a living testament to what Francis Montesinos meant.”
